Thriller conventions

A convention in term of media is a object or item that is associated with a type  of genre or just things in general that are associated with a genre for example in a romantic film you will see flowers chocolates just to name a few so below you will see some thriller conventions.

Some conventions of thriller films could be knives, masks, fake blood, dark lighting, dark alleys set in cities common locations.

Knives these are one of the main things that you see appear in a lot of thriller films sometimes you just see them with blood on it and that creates the mystery  these are the sort of props that keep the audience on the edge of their seats and this what thrillers are all about.

Masks are another convention of thriller films these are what cause the thrills sometimes because the tension is been built up and when u get the people jumping out with mask it gives you that thrill and it is a good way of making you think who is under the mask and why they are wearing the mask.

You also  find a lot of dark lighting and dark alleys in thrillers and this is done to again build up the tension and these are always good in creating plot twists because you think something bad is going to happen through a dark alley but nothing happens then the thrill comes.

There is also a high emphasis on the location this sets the scene  and is important in knowing
whether there is a thriller or not because thriller are set in the same places most of the time you find them set in cities or a common location .

Another convention of thriller films are twists in the plot this keeps the audience guessing
keeping them intrigued and leaving them with questions that they want answered.
